The seventh meeting of the Tajik Austrian Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held yesterday in Dushanbe.
The Tajik delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Tojiddin Jurazoda and the Foreign Economic Relations Group of Austrialia's Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Economic Communications Franz Wessig.
According to Wessing, trade turnover has a great potential for the development of two states.
Calling Austria the country of potential investors, Jurazoda noted that according to the results of the previous year, the foreign trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $2.9 million, which is an increased of 9%.
Austrian business circles are interested in investing in the Tajik economy. Over the ten year period from 2007 through 2018, Austrian investments in the Tajik economy amounted to more than $230 million. We have ample opportunity to create joint ventures. To date, joint Tajik Austrian enterprises are developing successfully. Tajikistan has large reserves of coal and gas that could be used in joint projects, Jurazoda emphasized.
During their stay in Tajikistan the Austrian delegation got acquainted with the country's economy, investment potential and opportunities.
Yesterday, the Tajik Austrian business community also held talks in B2B format.
The Austrian delegation will remain in Tajikistan until September 26, and will visit the main sites of Dushanbe and the Norak HPP.
