A meeting of the members of the Steering Committee of the Group of Friends of Water was held yesterday in New York by the initiative of the Permanent Missions of Tajikistan and Hungary to the UN.
The Permanent Representative of Tajikistan Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov briefed the participants about the preparations for the upcoming second International conference on the International Decade of Action Water for Sustainable Development, 2018 2028 which is scheduled for June 2020 in Dushanbe and invited them to actively participate in this process, reports the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mahmadaminov also provided information on the outcomes of the first meeting of the International Advisory Committee (Stockholm, August 25, 2019) and a high level side event titled Transformative Water Actions to Accelerate Global Achievement of Climate Change Related Goals (September 25, 2019, New York).
The Steering Committee of the Group of Friends of Water consists of 16 UN member states, including Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, Hungary, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, Tajikistan and Thailand.
