Today, the Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information, Olim Salimzoda, met with the Special Representative of the European Union in Central Asia Peter Burian and his colleagues at their request.

The purpose of the meeting was the search for new ways to expand bilateral cooperation at all levels and directions.

During the meeting, Olim Salimzoda said that since the establishment of friendly relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union, multilateral cooperation has been constantly strengthened. It was noted that Tajikistan began its permanent mission to the European Union in 2001, and the European Commission adopted the EU Declaration of EU Representation in Tajikistan in 2004. In 2005, a special representative for Central Asia was appointed.

Strengthening political connections at various levels and exchanging high-level official visits are important evidence of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union. In this regard, the importance of the visit of the Head of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the European Union was stressed.

Olim Salimzoda also added that Tajikistan considers the European Union as an integral part of an international alliance, which corresponds to democratic reforms in the country, the rule of law, human rights, and the attraction of foreign investments to the priorities of the national economy.

The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and the EU Strategy for the Central Asian countries are an important tool for regulating the stability and prosperity of Tajikistan and the European Union, as well as determining the level and content of mutually beneficial cooperation, Olim Salimzoda emphasized.
