Tajikistan Receives Over 501,000 doses of AstraZeneca Vaccine

On the night of February 21, as part of the COVAX mechanism, the government of Japan delivered 501,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Tajikistan in the amount of more than $2,000,000 as humanitarian aid, reports the Press Center of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population.

The receiving ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Abdukholik Amirzoda, the Ambassador of Japan to Tajikistan Toshihiro Aiki, and the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Tajikistan Zainab Al-Azzawi, as well as other responsible individuals.

On behalf of the government, Amirzoda expressed gratitude to the Japanese side for the constant support, including the provision of the vaccines against coronavirus, and regarded this step as a continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

Following the ceremony, the guests visited the special warehouse where the vaccines are being stored.
