On 5 May 2017, a solemn opening ceremony of the photo exhibition entitled Monuments: Keeping the memory of the long-gone war alive and a reception to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the end of the Second World War was held at the UN Headquarters in New York. The ceremony was organized by the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations, together with the Permanent Missions of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations H.E. Mr. Antonio Guterres participated and addressed the ceremony as an honored guest. The memory of the victims of the Second World War was also honored with a minute of silence. This event was also attended by the Permanent Representatives of the UN member states, Heads and experts of various UN structures and diplomats from the UN member-states.
