Today, Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda will take part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which will be held via videoconference. The meeting will begin at 12:00 Dushanbe time.
The meeting will focus on the pandemic and the recovery of the CIS economies from its consequences.
Additionally, the participants are expected to consider the development of the CIS free trade zone, railway transport, and innovative cooperation. As specified in the materials for the meeting, the plan is to approve the concept of the strategic development of railway transport in the “1520 space” for the period up to 2030.
The heads of government are expected to exchange views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the CIS, discuss topics related to the reclamation of territories affected by uranium mining, and the development of railway transport.
They also plan to adopt a Decision on the Chairman of the Committee for Internationalist Warriors under the Council of CIS Heads of Government to determine the date and place of the council’s next meeting, and to sign documents regulating the interaction of the Commonwealth countries in the field of copyrights and related rights in information and telecommunication networks.
The members are expected to approve the draft Action Plan for the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage in the CIS in 2022.
Following the meeting’s results, decisions may be made relating to the implementation of an interstate program to improve the quality of life of war veterans — participants in local conflicts and their families, as well as to work on the search for servicemen who went missing during the war in Afghanistan between 1979-1989.
Following the meeting, the heads of the CIS governments will approve a number of international treaties.
As part of the implementation of the interstate program of innovative cooperation for the period up to 2030, the agenda includes the approval of a comprehensive action plan for 2021-2025.
Also, the heads of delegations will be asked to approve the plan for holding the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage in 2022 within the CIS.
