ASHGABAT: Turkmenistan and Afghanistan intend to increase transit transportation, Trend reports. According to an official source, this intention was expressed during a meeting between the Consul General of Turkmenistan in Herat province, Batyr Yolov, and the governor of the same province of Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad Islamjar. During the meeting, the Turkmen diplomat stressed Turkmenistan's readiness to ensure the daily passage of 120 trucks with commercial goods through the Torghundi border crossing, and also announced the completion of repair work at the Nur-ul-Jihad substation. He highly appreciated the efforts of officials from Herat to expand trade relations between the countries and expressed readiness for cooperation in these areas. In turn, Noor Ahmad Islamjar expressed interest in exporting Afghan fruits, vegetables, and dry products to Turkmenistan. Meanwhile, in May of this year, the Turkmen delegation, led by Nokerguly Atagulyev, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkm enistan, met with Afghanistan's Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, during his visit to Herat province.
