US Secretary of State Blinken Hears Tajik Music

On New Year’s Eve, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted two playlists of his favorite songs that he listened to in 2021.

Blinken stressed that music is a permanent part of his life. Summing up the year, the Secretary of State would like to take a moment to share some of his favorite songs released in 2021.

The Secretary of State called the first list of songs “At Home”. It includes 17 songs by American artists such as Justin Bieber, Diana Ross, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift.

The total playlist duration is 1 hour and 3 minutes.

“Part of my job includes promoting people-to-people diplomacy and forging ties with other nations through a shared love of culture, including music. Here are some favorite songs by American artists that I listened to this year and hope you will enjoy, too,” reads the playlist description.

The second list is called “On the Road.” It includes songs by musicians from all over the world, including The Weekend, Stromae, Adel, Dua Lipa and others. The playlist is 2 hours and 18 minutes long and consists of 36 tracks.

It is noteworthy that this list contains two Tajik songs – “Camarob” performed by a young Tajik singer, 25-year-old Safarmuhammad Rustam, as well as a song by a singer from Afghanistan Aryana Sayeed “Nafasam”. By the way, Safarmuhammad studied from 2014 through 2019 at Liaoning University in Chinese Shenyang.

“Music brings people together — it transcends boundaries and anything else that could divide us. In late 2021, I will be sharing some of my favorite songs released this year (or recently) by artists around the world. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, ”reads the description of the On the Go playlist.

“Music has been a constant in my life, and as we close the year, I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorite songs released this year (or recently) by artists from across the globe. No matter where we live, music can inspire us. Hope you enjoy these tunes as much as I have,” reads the description of the “On the Road” playlist.
