Uzbekistan, Trkiye sign joint statement on agricultural insurance co-op

TASHKENT: The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Trkiye signed a joint statement on cooperation in the field of agricultural insurance, Trend reports. The news followed a meeting between Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Akmal Kasimov, and the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Trkiye, Ahmet Bagci. At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of development and expansion of bilateral cooperation, in particular the introduction of an insurance system in Uzbekistan's agriculture based on Turkish experience. The participants also reached agreements on cooperation measures and the composition of the working group. They also discussed studying the Uzbek law on agricultural insurance, technical issues, the organization of a symposium with the participation of scientists from both countries, and other issues. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume with Trkiye amounted to $1.4 billion from January through June 2024. This figure has decreased by 7.1 percent year-on-year ($1.5 billion in January-June 2023). Trkiye ranked fourth among the countries with the largest volume of foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan.
