Kyrgyzstani takes first place at World Amateur Chess Championship

Nurlan Shergaliev took the 1st place at the World Amateur Chess Championship in Greece. He himself announced on Instagram.

At least 168 athletes from over 20 countries participated in the tournament.

Nurlan Shergaliev was the only representative from Central Asia.

Kyrgyzstani scored eight points out of nine possible.

An athlete from France won a silver medal, and a representative of Belgium — bronze.

«I dedicate this victory to my mother,» Nurlan Shergaliev wrote.

This is his second international title. He became the world champion among amateurs in 2019 in Italy.
