Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives Attends IPA CSTO Council Meeting

Yesterday, Speaker of the Assembly of Representatives Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda took part in a joint meeting of the Council and the 14th plenary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (IPA CSTO).

The meeting was chaired in a mixed format by the IPA CSTO Chairman, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

The meeting focused on topical issues of international and regional security, the main results of CSTO’s work during the chairmanship of Tajikistan, an action plan for implementing CSTO’s decisions, and implementing the priorities proposed by Tajikistan, as well as issues related to Afghanistan.

The meeting participants also discussed issues on the agenda, including “On the implementation of the priorities of the chairmanship of Tajikistan in the CSTO in 2021,” “On the priorities of Armenia in the CSTO,” “On the results of the September meeting 2021 of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the situation in the zone of responsibility and measures to counter challenges and threats to the collective security,” “On the norms of democratic elections in the CSTO member states and their protection from foreign interference,” “On the draft model legislation and recommendations initiated by the Committee of the CSTO IPA on defense and security.»

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on murder charges

During search operations by police on suspicion of murder was detained 29-year-old resident of Sangvor district.

On November 26, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., due to a family dispute, his mother fraudulently took a 43-year-old woman from the area to the Hingob River and pushed her into the river.

As a result, the victim drowned and died. According to this criminal case under article 104 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, the investigation is under way.

Tajikistan Market Situation Update #43 (15-19 November2021)

Highlights:

• During the current reporting period, the food commodities were found to be sufficiently available.

• Compared to the previous week, slight increase in prices of some monitored food commodities was observed in the current reporting period. Increase in potato price was reported in most monitored markets in the range of 4-14 percent. These price increases have been attributed to temporary fluctuations in supply and demand conditions in the regional markets. Wheat flour price has increased slightly by 4 percent in Dushanbe, Isfara, Istarayshan and Kulob markets. Prices also increased for chicken, carrot, cabbage and chickpeas. According to the enumerators, this was caused by high demand from consumers and not enough supply.

• Compared to average prices of last month, prices of some food commodities saw an increase. Price of wheat is still higher by 3 percent. Biggest percentage increase was seen in the price for potatoes and cabbage by 11-12 percent mainly due to limited supply and increased demand. Russian Deputy PM Overchuk Visits Tajikistan

As part of trade and economic cooperation, today, Bokhtar will host the eighth conference on interregional cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia.

The Russian delegation will be headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.

The conference is organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

As part of the conference, round tables will be held on the topics of “Development of Russian-Tajik cooperation in agriculture, industry, logistics, and digital economy,” “Regions of Russia and Tajikistan: Youth and Educational Dimension of Cooperation” and “Development of Interregional Cooperation Between Russia and Tajikistan: Urban Solutions.”

The conference participants are expected to focus on the possible ways to diversify mutual supplies of agricultural products, Russian produced agricultural machinery, the dynamics of the development of the food industry in Tajikistan, and the possibility of participation of Russian investors.

Dushanbe Hosts Scientific Conference Devoted to Tajikistan and Korean Cooperation

On November 29, Dushanbe hosted a scientific conference entitled the “Cooperation Between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea: State and Development Prospects”.

The conference began following the opening remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin and his Korean counterpart Chung Eui-yong.

The conference participants delivered spoke about the bilateral relations, prospects and directions of broad cooperation in the framework of the Central Asia + Republic of Korea Forum.

The representatives of government agencies, scientists and professors of higher educational institutions of Tajikistan and Korea attended the conference.

FM Muhriddin Meets Korean Counterpart Eui-yong

Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with his Korean counterpart Chung Eui-yong, who is on an official visit in Tajikistan at the invitation of the Tajik side.

The meeting focused on the state and prospects of Tajik-South Korean relations.

The ministers noted the importance of further maintaining mutual contacts at the high levels, as well as strengthening inter-parliamentary ties and inter-departmental consultations.

They highlighted that the status of the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Korea in Tajikistan was elevated to the level of the ambassador.

The officials paid particular attention to cooperation in the field of economy and trade. The parties agreed to put additional effort to increase mutual trade.

The parties signed the Protocol Amending the Convention between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea for Avoiding of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income, which will expand the package of bilateral agreements.

The ministers also had a comprehensive exchange of views on topical issues on the regional and international agenda.

They also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on security in the region.

The parties agreed to hold joint events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Korea next year.

On the topic of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, the ministers noted the importance of this permanent mechanism for strengthening practical cooperation between the countries.

Dushanbe Hosts First Business Forum of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea

On November 29, under the chairmanship of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, the first Business Forum of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea was held with the virtual participation of the heads of the chambers of commerce and industry of the member countries.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the chairmanship of Tajikistan in the 14th Cooperation Forum between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, which will take place today in Dushanbe with the participation of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and Korea.

Rasulzoda noted that Russia is one of the main partners of Tajikistan, and cooperation is developing every year with the implementation of bilateral programs and strategies.

They noted the necessity of expanding cooperation in key areas, such as energy, industry, transport, education, science, digital economy, banking, customs, agriculture, and foreign trade, and the importance of attracting Russian capital to the economy of Tajikistan.

President Emomali Rahmon Receives Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov

The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who is in Tajikistan to take part in the 14th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.

The discussion focused on the 15th Summit of Heads of Member States of the Economic Cooperation Organization that took place recently in Turkmenistan.

Discussing a number of forward-looking topics on the bilateral cooperation agenda, the participants called for the consistent implementation of previously reached agreements and comprehensive preparations for the official return visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Tajikistan.

They also discussed the current state of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations.
