The athlete, competing in the category up to 77 kilograms, started from the 1/4 final stage. In this fight, he defeated the representative of Turkmenistan, winning with a score 9-0.
In the semi-finals, Akzhol Mahmudov defeated an athlete from Japan (9-1) and reached the final.
In the final, his opponent from Iran withdrew from the fight due to injury.
