Tajik Foreign Ministry reported 28 people killed in conflicts on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan released a statement giving details of the incidents and the number of casualties as a result of the attack by the Kyrgyz military.

 

Tajik Foreign Ministry reports 28 deaths:

 

– On September 14, when Kyrgyz border guards shelled the “Kekh” post of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan in the Vorukh Jamoat of the city of Isfara, two servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan were killed.

 

– On September 16, Kyrgyz servicemen entered the house of a citizen of Tajikistan in the village of Bogdori, Jamoat Chilgazi, Isfara. The mistress of the house – an elderly woman Makhmudova Munavvarakhon was killed with particular cruelty.

 

– On September 16, 5 members of one family, including a 6-year-old girl, a 5-year-old boy and a woman in her eighth month of pregnancy, were killed by the fire of the Kyrgyz military in the Jamoat Chorkuh.

 

– On September 16, as a result of a mortar attack from the Kyrgyz side on the settlement of Khistevarz jamoat, Bobojon, Gafurov district of Tajikistan, two elderly women were killed – citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan.

 

– On September 16, as a result of a strike by a Kyrgyz UAV on the building of school No. 8 of the jamoat Ovchi Kal’ach, Bobojon, Gafurov district of the Republic of Tajikistan, 6 civilians of Tajikistan were killed.

 

– On September 16, during the strike of a Kyrgyz UAV on a mosque in the jamoat Ovchi Kal’acha Bobojon, Gafurov district of the Republic of Tajikistan, 12 civilians of Tajikistan were killed

Putin had a talk with the presidents of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

On September 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with the head of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the Kremlin press service reported.

Large-scale clashes on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan began on Friday morning. The parties accused each other of shelling. Fierce fighting between the military of the two countries lasted all day along almost the entire perimeter of the border. The cease-fire was reached only by nightfall.

 

Intermittent clashes resumed on Saturday morning. The parties accused each other of violating the ceasefire agreement. The shooting stopped only in the evening.

Krutoy will help Tajikistan in obtaining Belarusian engineering equipment

EU: “We call on Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to resolve differences as soon as possible”

«We call on both sides to ensure the effective implementation of the ceasefire and to make every effort to reduce tensions and reach a sustainable solution to existing differences as soon as possible», – says EU statement on the situation on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

 

The statement also expresses sympathy for the large number of victims of the conflict.

 

“Violent clashes have taken place in recent days between border guards on various sections of the border between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan. We express our sympathy to those directly affected. This escalation along the common border is damaging regional stability”, – stated in the statement.

 

The EU also welcomes the ceasefire agreement reached on Friday.

 

The statement noted that the Organization, through its Special Representative for Central Asia and the EU Delegations in both countries, has established diplomatic contacts with the authorities of the two countries.

 

“We call for the settlement of any differences through peaceful, diplomatic means. The EU reaffirms its offer of assistance, as well as continued strong political support for stability and prosperity in the region”, – said in a statement.

The commander of the border troops of Tajikistan visited the border guards wounded during the conflict

The commander of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan Rajabali Rahmonali and the head of the Sughd region Rajabboy Ahmadzoda visited on Sunday, September 18, in the central hospital of Isfara, the victims of the latest border conflicts, the press service of the chairman of the Sughd region reports.

 

During the visit, it was reported that, on the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon, qualified doctors of the region were involved in the treatment of the victims, and patients were provided with medicines, food and necessary supplies.

 

As a result of the attack by the military of the Kyrgyz Republic, several officers and soldiers of military units were injured, who are currently undergoing treatment.

The volume of humanitarian aid in Tajikistan exceeded $100 million

Tajikistan has received over $100 million worth of humanitarian aid in eight months of this year, the country’s statistical office reports.

 

Although the number of donor countries remained almost unchanged compared to the same period in 2021 (56 countries in the eight months of this year compared to 55 countries in the same period in 2021), the total amount of assistance increased by 60%.

 

At the end of 2021, the republic received humanitarian aid totaling $111 million from 62 countries.

 

The main donors in terms of the cost of aid in January-August this year were the United States (33% of the total cost) and China (28.7%). Also have a relatively high share: India (5.9%), Japan (4.7%), Russia (3.2%), the Netherlands (2.3%), Sweden (2.2%), Denmark (1, 6%), Uzbekistan (1.5%).
