Dushanbe Will Host an International Universal Exhibition “Tajikistan-2023”

The next International Universal Exhibition «Tajikistan-2023» will be held from May 4 through May 7 at the Kokhi Borbad State Complex in Dushanbe.

The exhibition, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be held with the support of the Government of Tajikistan.

The leading companies of Tajikistan will present their products. In addition, companies from Malaysia, Turkiye, Iran, Russia, Belarus, and Uzbekistan are expected to participate in its work.

The purpose of the exhibition is to demonstrate the potential of companies, establish business ties, and attract innovative technologies to various fields of activity.

Tajikistan Strengthens Technical and Advisory Cooperation with the World Bank

Issues related to technical and advisory cooperation for the effective management of international resources were discussed at the meeting of the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda with the World Bank Treasury Director Teresa Keche and the World Bank Advisory Partnership and Resource Management program manager George Bentley in Washington.

The meeting was held as part of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, Kholikzoda expressed satisfaction with cooperation with the World Bank within the framework of the Advisory Partnership and Resource Management program to provide technical and advisory assistance.

The National Bank of Tajikistan has been a member of the Advisory Partnership and Resource Management program since 2016 and is doing significant work in cooperation with the World Bank towards the effective management of international resources. Also, program drew the attention of the World Bank to the effective management of international resources, taking into account the situation in the financial market and the uncertainty in the monetary policy of states.

The parties expressed their readiness for technical and advisory cooperation for the effective management of international resources through the use of new levers of the financial market and advanced training of employees of the National Bank of Tajikistan through consultations and study tours.

Tajikistan Increases the Volume of Cargo Transportation by 10.8%

Compared to the same period in 2022, the volume of cargo transportation in Tajikistan increased by 10.8%, and passenger traffic — by 11.3%.

All modes of transport in Tajikistan transported over 23.3 million tons of cargo and more than 218.3 million passengers.

Until April 1, 2,328 economic entities functioned in the republic in various forms of ownership. During this period, 577,300 vehicles were registered, including 50,248 trucks, 15,587 passenger vehicles, 507,661 private vehicles, 1,780 units of special vehicles and 2,036 motorcycles.

Depending on the climatic conditions and geographical location of the country, road transport is of great importance, which accounts for more than 93.1% of freight traffic and 96.5% of passenger traffic.

Tajik Judokas Will Go to Qatar for the 2023 World Championships

Tajik judokas will take part in the 2023 World Judo Championships, which will be held from May 7 through May 14 in Doha.

According to the regulations, athletes who are in the top 100 of the world ranking by April 3, can participate in the championship.

The team of Tajikistan will include Emomali Nurali (-66kg), Shahboz Saidabrorov (-66kg), Behruz Khojazoda (-73kg), Shodmon Rizoev (-81kg), Somon Mahmadbekov (-81kg), Komronshoh Ustopiriyon (-90kg), Jahongir Majidov (-90kg), Abubakri Akobir (-100kg) and Temur Rahimov (+100kg).

The tournament will be held as part of the Judo World Tour. The winners and prize-winners of the championship will be awarded valuable cash prizes. The prize fund of the championship is €1 million. In individual competitions, winners in all 14 weight categories will be awarded €26,000 each, silver medalists — €15,000 each, bronze medalists — €8,000 each. In the team competition, €90,000 are provided for first place, €60,000 for second place and €25,000 for third place.

Athletes also receive points for improving their position in the world and Olympic rankings. Including winners receive 2000 points, second place holders — 1400 points, third place holders — 1000 points and thus 20 points for participation.

Marking of beer products brings 129.4 million to budget

Mandatory marking of beer products brought to the budget of Kyrgyzstan 129.4 million soms in form of excise tax for three months. The State Tax Service reported.

The indicator exceeded the established plan and data for the same period last year twice. The State Tax Service believes that the growth was due to the introduction of mandatory excise duty marking of beer products from January 1, 2023. In addition, control over the circulation of alcoholic products has been strengthened.

From January 1, 2023, the production and import of beer classified under the commodity item TN VED 2203 is subject to mandatory marking with an excise duty stamp. The circulation of unmarked leftover beer products is prohibited from July 1, 2023.

Sverdlovsk Drama Theater to perform play by Kyrgyz director in Bishkek

The Sverdlovsk State Academic Drama Theater will perform a play by the Kyrgyz production director Ulanbek Bayaliev based on Maxim Gorky’s story «Zheleznova Vassa Mother». Director of the theater Alexey Badaev announced at a press conference.

The performance will be presented as part of the International Theater Festival of the Alexander Bryantsev Theater for Young Spectators in the CIS countries.

«We are glad that we were able to bring this performance to the director’s homeland. I once told Ulanbek Bayaliev that we would visit his homeland. And it is done. I really hope that the audience will enjoy the performance and we will be here again, we continue to cooperate with this director. I have been trying to get him to stage a play based on Chingiz Aitmatov’s work for a long time. I hope that it will work out,» Alexey Badaev said.

The performance will take place on April 18 at 7 p.m. on the stage of the Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theater named after Toktobolot Abdumomunov.

Cabinet of Ministers to build houses for state mortgage in Kyrgyzstan

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan will itself build houses for the state mortgage. The President Sadyr Japarov said in his next interview with Kabar news agency.

According to him, 6,000 apartments will be built in Bishkek.

«Construction has also begun in the regions. We will build in Naryn at the expense of Kumtor and allocate housing through the State Mortgage Company. Jerooy sponsors the construction in Talas. 200 apartments will be built in Jalal-Abad. We allocate plots for the construction of houses in the centers of districts. The mortgage will be for 20 years,» Sadyr Japarov said.

The President noted that all houses will be built by the state.

«We have been allocating money to the State Mortgage Company for two years. They buy a square meter of housing for $750. If we build it ourselves, the square meter will cost $550. This is beneficial to both the people and the State Mortgage Company. Not only civil servants, but also ordinary citizens will get the mortgage. So you can get in line,» he said.
