Japan plans to accept 10 to 20 wounded soldiers from Ukraine yearly, sources say

Sources in the Japanese government say it has decided to accept around 10 to 20 wounded soldiers from Ukraine per year as part of programs to support the country, NHK reports.

The government made the decision after receiving a request from Ukraine for such support.

Japan has so far provided Ukraine with bulletproof vests, helmets and other supplies.

Sources told NHK that it plans to accept two soldiers at the Self-Defense Force Central Hospital in Tokyo by a mid-June as an initial step.

The sources say the government is due to have the capability to accept around 10 to 20 soldiers per year if things go as planned.

The two soldiers expected to come to Japan have suffered serious injuries involving lower limb amputation. The sources say the injuries are assumed to require treatment lasting a month or two, including rehabilitation.

The cost per person is estimated at about 15,000 to 30,000 US dollars, including expenses for hospitalization, prosthetic legs and travel.

Construction of Azerbaijan’s ‘Zangilan’ tanker contributes to dev’t of shipbuilding industry – minister

Azerbaijan's "Zangilan" tanker has been launched for the next stage of construction, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov wrote on Twitter, Trend reports.

As the minister noted, this versatile ship is the fourth oil tanker under construction at the Baku Shipyard, and the second tanker designed for carrying petrochemical products.

"The construction of this tanker is a significant contribution to the implementation of transit cargo transportation through Azerbaijan's territory. It also aids in the successful execution of oil and gas projects and the development of the local shipbuilding industry," the publication says.

The "Zangilan" tanker was launched in Azerbaijan, it is being built at the Baku Shipyard LLC by order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO).

The length of the tanker is 141 meters, the width - 16.9 meters, height – six meters. The dead weight of the tanker at sea is 8,009 tons, the vessel is equipped with the most modern equipment, including two main engines of 1200 kW each, cargo pumps, a ventilation system, navigation devices and a separator. The speed of the vessel can reach 10 knots per hour. It has six cargo tanks with a total capacity of 9,212 cubic meters.

The loan portfolio of Azerbaijan’s PASHA Bank in 2022 increased by nine percent from two billion manat ($1.18 billion) to 2.28 billion manat ($1.3 billion), CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of PASHA Bank Javid Guliyev said at a press conference on the results of 2022, Trend reports.

"The total share of the bank's loan portfolio among the country's banks is 25 percent. Besides, 99 percent of the bank's operations were executed in the digital environment. Payments also increased by 32 percent, and non-cash payments grew by 36 percent, and payments in foreign currency grew by 30 percent." Guliyev noted.

He added that corporate banking is a priority area of activity for PASHA Bank.

Moldova interested in applying DOST experience of Azerbaijan
