Israeli senior team in group exercises with a score of 35.800 points took the first place at the 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku in exercises with five hoops, Trend reports.

In second place is the team of Bulgaria, its result was 35.250 points. The third position was taken by the team representing Italy, its score was 34.950 points.

The Azerbaijani team in group exercises, which included Gullu Agalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Elizaveta Luzan and Daria Sorokina, took the eighth position with a score of 32.800 points.

The 39th European Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics is being held on May 17-21 at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. Gymnasts from 38 countries are participating in the European Championship in Baku, held under the "Shine like a star" motto.

Darja Varfolomeev from Germany took the first place in the ribbon program at the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, Trend reports.

The judges rated her performance at 32.250 points.

Eva Brezalieva from Bulgaria is in the second place, her score was 31.600 points. Stiliana Nikolova, who is also a representative of Bulgaria, is in the third place with a score of 31.550 points.

The senior team representing Israel took the silver medal with a score of 32.150 points. Bronze medal with a score of 31.200 points was won by the team of Spain.

European Championship in Baku: awarding ceremony for winners in individual program (PHOTO)

On May 21, at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, the ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship among gymnasts performing in the individual program was held, Trend reports.

The winners and prize-winners in the individual exercise program with hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon were awarded.

In the exercise with a hoop, Victoria Onoprienko (Ukraine) climbed to the highest step of the podium, Adi Asya Katz (Israel) took the second place, Boryana Kaleyn (Bulgaria) took the third place.

Sofia Raffaeli (Italy) won the gold medal in the ball program, Stiliana Nikolova (Bulgaria) won the silver medal, Zohra Agamirova (Azerbaijan) won the bronze medal.

Sofia Raffaeli (Italy) showed the best result in clubs composition, Boryana Kaleyn (Bulgaria) took the second place, Yekaterina Vedeneeva (Slovenia) took the third place.

In the ribbon exercise, Daria Varfolomeev from Germany won the gold medal, Eva Brezalieva (Bulgaria) won the silver medal, and Stiliana Nikolova (Bulgaria) won the bronze medal.

The awards were presented by Vice President of European Gymnastics Edward Kolar, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Nurlana Mammadzade, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF) Altay Hasanov.

It was my dream… Zohra Agamirova about winning bronze medal at European Championship

It was my dream to win a medal at the European Championships, I am very happy, Azerbaijani gymnast Zohra Agamirova, who won a bronze medal in ball exercises at the 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, told Trend.

"I express my deep gratitude to my coaches, they support me in everything, help me. Many thanks to the audience in the stands for the warm support, it gave me strength. A wonderful atmosphere reigns in the Gymnastics Arena, the decoration of the hall for the European Championship turned out to be very beautiful. I'm glad I was able to run the program without errors. The most exciting thing was waiting for the evaluation of the last participant in the final to find out the final result," she said.

She added that some changes may be made in her program for the World Championships, perhaps the composition will be more complicated.

First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Mehriban Aliyeva has shared a post on her official Instagram page on the occasion of the victory of the Azerbaijan team in group exercises at the 39th European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, Trend reports.

Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated the Azerbaijani gymnasts on the emphatic win by saying in her post:

“Hurrah, I congratulate you, I am proud of you! You are brilliant! Thank you very much for your work, the will to win, your beauty and tenderness!”

The Azerbaijan team consisted of Gullu Agalarzade, Laman Alimuradova, Kamilla Aliyeva, Zeynab Hummatova, Yelizaveta Luzan and Darya Sorokina claimed the European title with three ribbons and two balls. The gymnasts’ superb performance earned them 32.250 points from referees.

Tajik Citizens Repatriated from Syria per President Emomali Rahmon’s instructions

On May 21, 2023, under the direct guidance and instructions of the Founder of the Peace and National Unity-Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, the second group of citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, consisting of 104 people, among them women, teenagers and small children returned home on a charter flight from the Syrian Arab Republic.

At the request of the Kazakh side, 5 citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan (mother and four children) were also delivered from Syria to Tajikistan by this flight.

The process of the return of Tajik citizens living in refugee camps in Iraq and Syria began three years ago as per the direct instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, H.E. Emomali Rahmon.

Meantime, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the State of Kuwait, in cooperation and coordination with the relevant structures of Tajikistan and Syria, achieved practical results in the realization of this humane initiative.

UNESCO Executive Board adopts Azerbaijan-proposed initiative

The 'Bicycle for All' initiative co-drafted by the Azerbaijani delegation was adopted at the 216th session of the UNESCO Executive Board. The initiative jointly proposed by Azerbaijan, Austria, UAE, Kenya, Mexcio, Poland and Vietnam emphasized the role of the bicycle as a clean, affordable and easy to learn means of transportation and as a way to facilitate access to sport, whose use has no climate impact and contributes to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UNESCO member states highlighted the importance of investing in bicycle infrastructure and building networks to enable and promote the use of bicycles and cycling across countries and cities.
