Meeting with the Speaker of the Lower House of the Parliament of the Republic of India

On December 18, 2021 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Muhriddin during his official visit met with the Speaker of Lok Sabha - the Lower House of the Parliament of the Republic of India Om Birla.

Praising the current state of inter-parliamentary relations, Birla stressed the need for further expansion, strengthening the legal framework, activation of the inter-parliamentary friendship group and exchange of official delegations to discuss priority issues of mutual interest and mutual trust between the two friendly countries.

During the conversation, the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of further developing cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries in order to promote the expansion of political, economic, trade, medical cooperation, increase the number of educational scholarships and exchange experiences.

The sides also exchanged views on the prospects of bilateral relations in the framework of cooperation instruments, regional and international organizations and organizations and other issues of mutual interest.

Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the India-Central Asia Dialogue

On December 19, 2021, the 3rd Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Dialogue between India and Central Asia was held in New Delhi.

The Foreign Ministers discussed ways to strengthen this tool, expand trade and economic cooperation and inter-regional links between India and Central Asia.

Focusing on the need for joint cooperation in the implementation of the huge potential for economic and investment development, Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted that Tajikistan attaches great importance to further strengthening the Dialogue between India and Central Asia. In this context, it was stressed the assistance in the process of implementation of large infrastructure, transport, green economy, digitalization and other areas of mutual interest for the expansion of capacity and export opportunities.

In addition, the representatives of the Dialogue member states exchanged views on global and regional processes, including the situation in Afghanistan and the involvement of the international community in addressing humanitarian challenges in the country.

Finally, a Joint Statement on the Outcome of the Third Dialogue between India and Central Asia was adopted.
