Tajik foreign minister holds a number of meetings in Busan to discuss cooperation

As part of his working visit to the Republic Korea, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on October 25 met in Busan with his Korean counterpart Park Jin.

 

According to the Tajik MFA information department, the parties discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea.

 

The parties reportedly stressed the further expansion of trade, economic, investment, scientific and technical relations and the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

 

Sectors like industry, energy, and tourism as areas were outlined as areas, which could drive the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Korea.

 

Muhriddin and Park reportedly also discussed issues related to cooperation in the field of labor migration and interaction between the two countries within international and regional organizations.

 

On the same day, Muhriddin met in Busan with Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon.

 

During the meeting, the two discussed cooperation between the relevant authorities of the two countries, the experience of municipal government and the establishment of sister city relations.

Tajik minister calls for cooperation with Iran on medical herbs

The Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Abdullozoda has called for mutual collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of medical herbs and pharmaceutical industry.

 

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the official news agency of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported on October 26 that the Tajik minister made the remarks at a meeting with Governor-General of Fars Province Mohammad-Hadi Imanieh in Shiraz on Tuesday (October 25), noting that the growth of mutual cooperation will help improve people’s health situation.

 

He reportedly also said that Iran is well-known in different fields in particular in medicine and that Tajikistan is seeking to acquire medical know-how and exchange proper experiences.

 

According to the minister, many Tajik physicians studied at the universities of Shiraz to upgrade their knowledge in terms of organ transplantation; then, they came back to Tajikistan and provided their compatriots with medical services.

 

The governor-general expressed readiness to provide Tajik patients with the opportunity to travel to the province because there is a good capacity for health tourism in this province.

 

During the meeting, a representative envoy of the Shiraz University of Medical Science emphasized that the renowned academic center is prepared for the exchange of experiences in terms of medical herbs breakthroughs and accepting medical students from Tajikistan, IRNA reported.

Rahmon to attend EU-Central Asia summit in Astana, says Tajik president’s spokesman

On Thursday October 27, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon will visit the Kazakh capital, Astana, to attend the European Union – Central Asia, Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for Tajik president, told Asia-Plus Wednesday afternoon.

 

According to him, Presidential Adviser for Foreign Policy Matters Azamsho Sharifi, Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and some other high-ranking state officials are accompanying Emomali Rahmon on his visit to Astana.

 

Meanwhile, Kazakh media reports said earlier that President of the European Council Charles Michel will visit Astana on October 26-27 to attend the Central Asian leaders meeting following Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s invitation.

 

“Pleased about President Tokayev’s invite to visit Astana and attend the Central Asian leaders meeting. Also pleased about visiting Uzbekistan on October 28 and meet with President Mirziyoyev,” Charles Michel tweeted on October 8.

 

He also noted that the EU is ready to deepen ties with Central Asia and support regional cooperation.

Tajikistan, EU Discuss Prospects of Development Cooperation

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda here on Tuesday held a meeting with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Tajikistan, Raimundas Karoblis.

According to the Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry, the sides discussed current issues and prospects for development of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union as well as other issues of mutual interest.

A delegation of Tajikistan Attends the 15th Cooperation Forum Central Asia — the Republic of Korea

On October 25th, 2022, the 15th Session of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Forum «Central Asia — the Republic of Korea» was held in Busan city, which was attended by the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sirojiddin Muhriddin.

During his speech, the head of the Tajik delegation shared the country’s vision of expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation, strengthening cooperation and sustainable development within this effective format.

Good relations with the Republic of Korea, as well as expanding and strengthening cooperation with the countries of Central Asia were highlighted as an important means of strengthening multilateral relations.

On the sidelines of the Cooperation Forum, five thematic sessions were held in the areas of healthcare, digital cooperation, economic security, tourism, environment and energy in-person and virtual forms.

The meeting participants exchanged views on important issues on the agenda, the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.

As a result of the meeting, the Joint Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Work Plan of the Secretariat of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum for 2023 were adopted.

Tajikistan and Japan to Improve the System of Exchange of Experience in the Implementation of Strategic Planning Documents

The First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Ashurboy Solehzoda held a meeting with the State Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Tajikistan, the discussion focused on the measures for further strengthening Tajik — Japanese relations in economic, trade, investment, and other fields.

An exchange of views also took place on improving the system for exchanging experience in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of strategic planning documents at the national, sectoral and regional levels.

The parties expressed their readiness to establish mutually beneficial cooperation.

According to the Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, issues related to the expansion of bilateral relations in various fields, as well as the strengthening of the legal framework were discussed.

The parties stressed the further expansion of trade, economic, investment, scientific and technical relations, the expansion of inter-parliamentary connection, cooperation in the fields of industry and energy, culture and tourism, labor migration and strengthening interaction within international and regional organizations.
