Emomali Rahmon Receives Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov

Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, held a meeting with the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Dushanbe as part of the visit of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation to Tajikistan.

During the conversation, the Head of our state noted the importance of further effective development of interregional relations as an integral part of the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia.

It was mentioned that cooperation at the regional level is an important aspect of a wide range of relations between Tajikistan and Russia, including trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian cooperation, and a factor of enriching them with new practical content.

In this context, interest was expressed in further active promotion of ties with the Republic of Tatarstan, as one of the leading economic regions of the Russian Federation.

Strengthening and expanding direct economic ties between economic entities and business circles was recognized as an urgent task.

Various industries, including mining and metallurgy, oil and gas, chemicals, light and food, pharmaceuticals, construction, energy, transport and communication, agriculture and tourism were named promising areas of cooperation.

The parties exchanged views on the great potential of increasing mutual flows, as well as the joint implementation of investment projects in these areas.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian relations, including in the fields of education, science and healthcare.

The Leaders of the Nation expressed confidence that the results of the visit of the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan to Tajikistan will strengthen cooperation within comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia.

Meeting with the Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA)

On 2 March 2023 in Baku on the sidelines of the Summit-level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Muzaffar Huseinzoda met with the Executive Director of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybai.

At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the CICA.

Tajik Judoka Emomali Nurali Reaches the Final at the 2023 Tashkent Grand Slam

2023 Tashkent Judo Grand Slam has started today in Uzbekistan, in which 13 Tajik athletes take part.

On the first day, Tajik judoka Emomali Nurali reached the finals in the weight category up to 66 kg.

On the way to the final, he defeated athletes from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and France.

In the final, the Uzbek judoka Sardor Nurillaev became the rival of Tajik athlete.

For another Tajik athlete, Muhammadsoleh Kuvvatov (-60 kg), the tournament ended at the 1/8 final stage.

Resident of Faizobod district gets a lengthy jail term for beating his cohabitant to death

Suhaili Aliyev, a resident of Mehrobod village in Faizobod district, some 60 kilometers east of Dushanbe, has got a lengthy jail term for beating his cohabitant to death, the official website of the Prosecutor-General's Office reported on February 25. The Faizobod district court reportedly sentenced Suhaili Aliyev to 12 ½ years in prison on December 9, 2022. The sentenced followed his conviction on the charge of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm (Article 110 (3) of Tajikistan's Penal Code. Aliyev is serving his term in a high-security penal colony. The Prosecutor-General's Office says the incident took place on September 20 last year. On September 20 at around 10:00 pm, Aliyev drank about 500 grams of vodka in 'Samirjon' entertainment center in Lolagi village, where his girlfriend -- Mehrangez Raupova -- worked as a dancer. The man then left the center with his girlfriend. When they came to a rented apartment, Aliyev reportedly made a scandal, being jealous because of her dancing with another man, and began to beat the woman. Aliyev hit the woman, after which she fell to the ground. The man continued to beat and kick her in front of her six-year-old son. As a result, the woman died from beatings on the spot, the Prosecutor-General's Office said.

Woman dies in road accident

On March 2, 2023, at about 06:00 in the morning, the driver of the Opel-Astra car, born in 1992, a resident of Khujand, while moving on the highway of Khujand, hit a woman, born in 1970, a local resident.

Unfortunately, the woman, having received serious bodily injuries, died at the scene of an accident.

Upon the fact of the accident, an investigation is carried out, the causes and circumstances of the road accident are established.

Participation of the Tajikistan delegation in the Summit-level Meeting of the NAM Contact Group in response to COVID-19

On 2 March 2023 in Baku, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Muzaffar Huseinzoda participated and addressed the Summit-level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Contact Group in response to COVID-19.

In his statement, Muzaffar Huseinzoda, speaking about the negative impact of the COVID-19 disease on various areas of public life, emphasized the need for continued assistance from the international community to vulnerable countries of the Movement, especially in ensuring food security and supply chains.

The Deputy Minister also drew the participants' attention to the importance of Tajikistan's global initiatives in the field of management and ensuring access to water resources, and encouraged them to fully utilize the opportunities, offered by the Water Action Decade in order to expand cooperation in the field of water and prevent the effects of climate change.

Rector of the Tajik National University Elected Vice-President of the Eurasian Association of Universities

Rector of the Tajik National University (TNU), Doctor of Economics, Professor Kobiljon Khushvakhtzoda was elected Vice-President of the Eurasian Universities Association (EUA).

On March 2, the XV Congress of the EUA began in Moscow, which is attended by heads and representatives of prestigious higher educational institutions from the Eurasian states, including the TNU delegation led by Rector Khushvakhtzoda.

At the opening of the Congress, TNU Rector spoke about various scientific and educational areas and the contribution of the EUA to the comprehensive development of cooperating universities.

It was also emphasized that in the period of globalization, the requirements of the modern era are the development of cooperation in the field of exchange of teachers and students, the organization of meetings of an international level, the use of best practices in the field of science, production and innovation, the establishment of a 2 + 2 education system, the development of joint educational programs and research projects, the organization of creative research meetings among young people, the preparation of scientific articles at the international level and the strengthening of cooperation in the postgraduate and master’s programs in the form of 1 + 1.

In the second part of the Congress, the TNU achievements in the field of education, science, upbringing, international relations, work organization, management methods in the context of globalization were presented. The university was presented as a leading university.

As a result of the vote Khushvakhtzoda was elected Vice-President of the EUA.

During the Congress, new memorandums of cooperation were signed on the multifaceted cooperation of the members of the Association.

In particular, Khushvakhtzoda exchanged views on various issues with the rector of the Mikhail Lomonosov Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy. A new cooperation agreement was signed between the Tajik National University and the Mikhail Lomonosov Moscow State University in order to develop scientific and educational cooperation and use best practices.

Today, as part of the Congress, the Forum of the Eurasian Network University is planned. It is reported that the forum will be held in various sectors.

It should be noted that today the Tajik National University has established fruitful cooperation with 326 foreign scientific, educational and research institutions.
