Government Accelerators Program officially launched in Kyrgyzstan

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov and Deputy Minister of the Cabinet Affairs of the United Arab Emirates for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, Chairman of the Competitiveness Council Abdullah Nasser Lootah launched the Government Accelerators Program. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

At the first stage, within 100 days, projects will be implemented in three areas:

Reduction of barriers to the provision of preschool education services and increasing the coverage of children with preschool education in Kyrgyzstan;

Simplification of the procedure for obtaining permits for establishment of power plants for electric vehicles;

Simplification of the procedure for passing the examination, re-examination, establishing the fact of disability.

The Government Accelerators program is a special reform mechanism developed by the UAE Government, which is a methodology according to which the government agencies must solve problems and achieve their goals within 100 days.

Bakyt Torobaev calls on Pakistani businessmen to invest in Kyrgyzstan

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev met with businessmen from Pakistan. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Bakyt Torobaev said that the visit of representatives of Pakistani business, interested in strengthening trade and investment cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, inspired great hopes for the mutual development of the economies of the two countries. The parties discussed issues of expansion and further cooperation in the pharmaceutical, light industries, power sector, education, technology and investment attraction.

At the end of 2022, trade between the two countries amounted to $11.9 million. To increase mutual trade, efforts will be made to expand the range of products from Kyrgyzstan, which will be presented in a trading house in the city of Lahore (Pakistan).

In turn, representatives of the Pakistani delegation stated that they considered Kyrgyzstan as a reliable business partner and were ready for active cooperation and implementation of mutually beneficial projects.

World Taekwon-Do GTF Championship to be held in Bishkek for the first time

World Taekwon-Do GTF Championship will be held in Bishkek for the first time in history. Taekwon-Do Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic told 24.kg news agency.

The main tournament of the year, in which over 1,500 athletes from more than 20 countries will participate, will be held on July 24-31.

The World Championship will be held with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Kempir-Abad case: Protesters voice demands to authorities of Kyrgyzstan

Relatives of activists and politicians held in custody within the criminal case on organizing mass riots adopted a resolution and appealed to the authorities with demands.

«Participants of the peaceful rally for Justice and Freedom demand:

To ensure justice and freedom in the republic;

To carry out judicial reform and full independence of the courts from the government;

To stop pressure on independent media;

To restore the citizenship of Bolot Temirov and return the journalist to his country;

To release activists and politicians detained for protection of Kempir-Abad reservoir;

To stop pressure on small and medium-sized businesses and start a real fight against corruption,» the text of the resolution says.

The protesters emphasize that if these demands are not met, they will be forced to hold peaceful protests indefinitely.

Relatives of activists and politicians held in custody within the case on organizing mass riots held another protest on March 17. About 200 people gathered in Maxim Gorky park in Bishkek.

The Committee for protection of Kempir-Abad reservoir was created on October 22. It includes activists, politicians and MPs. On the same day, in an interview with Kabar news agency, President Sadyr Japarov said: the authorities have information who was behind the rallies and marches on Kempir-Abad issue.

Mass arrests began on October 23. Authorities placed 26 people in jail on charges of preparing for riots.

A number of international human rights organizations such as the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR), the World Organization Against Torture (OMCT), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights (HFHR), Freedom Now and others issued a statement calling for the immediate release of politicians and activists arrested in Kyrgyzstan.

Meeting of Ambassador with Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry

On March 16, 2023, Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda met with Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi Aljaghbeer.

At the meeting, the issues of attracting Jordanian investors to the implementation of Tajik economic projects, increasing the volume of trade between the two countries, as well as holding business forums and exhibitions of agricultural products were discussed.

Rally against cash registers in Naryn: Prosecutor’s office fines mayor

The prosecutor’s office fined the mayor of Naryn and the head of the department of the Tax Service for passive explanatory work among entrepreneurs regarding introduction of cash registers. Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

Officials were held accountable under Article 435 «Violation by officials of the requirements of regulatory legal acts».

The amount of fine was 10,000 soms.

On March 11, President Sadyr Japarov arrived in Naryn and listened to residents’ complaints about the introduction of cash registers and increasing fines for violation of traffic rules.

Rallies against introduction of cash registers were also held in Bishkek and Talas region. The Osh Department of the Tax Service asked the administration of the city’s markets to terminate contracts with tenants if sellers hold rallies and spread unconfirmed information.

Ambassador’s participation at the briefing on the UN Water Conference

On March 16, 2023, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Zarobiddin Kosimi, took part and virtually spoke at a briefing on the preparations for the upcoming UN Water Conference, which was held in the Rabat, capital of the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the briefing, detailed information was given about the Tajikistan’s leadership in the actualization of world water problems, the initiatives of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, in this area and that the UN water agenda is called the “Dushanbe process”. It was emphasized that, despite the fact that Tajikistan is an upstream country and has huge water resources, given such problems as the rapid melting of glaciers, floods, avalanches and landslides, and also taking into account the experience and skills in solving such problems, our country has established extensive and effective cooperation with the international community.

It was also noted that the high-ranking and representative delegation of Tajikistan to the UN Water Conference, which will be chaired by our country and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, will hold numerous side events, including those related to the international holiday of Navruz.
